Marie "Mom" Klutts, age 81, a long time resident of Lake Station passed away Sunday March 17, 2013 at the Regency Hospital in Portage. Marie was born October 10, 1931 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Ivory and Della (Cook) Gilliland. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, wife, sister and friend. On July 5, 1948 she married William J. Klutts in Tennessee. She loved Bluegrass Music attending Bluegrass Music Festivals whenever possible. She also enjoyed traveling and dance.
She is survived by her loving children John Klutts of Nevada, Texas, Elaine. (David) Baldauf and Patty (Kevin) Farthing both of Lake Station; her sister Martha Thompson of Lake Station; her seven grandchildren Scott (Deann) Baldauf, Michelle (Bill) Carney, Sarah (Chuck) Hudson, Dan Farthing, B. J. (Diane) Klutts, Katherine Klutts and Richard (Miranda). Klutts, her fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Klutts, her parents, two brothers J. W. and Edward Gilliland, her niece Lisa Smith and longtime companion Burl Yarber.
Funeral services for Marie will be conducted Thursday March 21, 2013 at 10:30 am at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN with Pastor Rick Oliver officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart, Indiana. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral Home.
