Marie E. Stockwell

Age 82 of Hobart passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her home. She was born on January 8, 1943, the daughter of Stephen and Lenora (nee Turpin) Franko in Gary, Indiana. She was a 1961 Merrillville High School graduate and on July 28, 1962, Marie married the love of her life, Richard Stockwell in Gary, Indiana. Marie was a devoted member of Hobart Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She was a proud mother who kept a pristine home, loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and took great pleasure in baking and engaging in craft projects. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Richard Stockwell; son, Richard (Carol) Stockwell; daughter, Cindy (Dave) Wright; three brothers, Steve (Madeline) Franko, Charlie Franko and Rich (Jerry) Franko; two sisters, Virginia Tommasi and Peg Knickerbocker; three grandchildren, Kelsey (Kenny) Hall, Tyler Wiening and Erica Kennedy- Wright; five great grandchildren, Karter, Kolton, Kane, Gracie and Kayden and many other loving family members and friends.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Kathy Franko and two brothers-in-law, Tom Tommasi and Ron Knickerbocker.

A funeral service for Marie will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342, with Pastor Corlin Stein officiating. Cremation will follow.
