Marilyn "Judy" J. James, age 79, of Portage, passed away at home on Thursday, March 5, 2020.  She was born in Wayne, Michigan on June 7, 1940 to the late Emmitt and Clara (nee Sieting) Smith.  She enjoyed playing BINGO and stitching plastic canvases.

Judy is survived by her children, Jerry (Paula) James, Melita Jacobs; daughter in law, Sherri James; siblings, Dudley Smith, Lucille Spehar, Donna Camillo; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Jessie James, Charles "Chuck" James; and her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.  219-762-3013.
