Mark A. Geary, age 51, of Portage passed away Saturday January 16, 2016 in Chesterton unexpectedly. Mark was born October 28, 1964 in Hammond, Indiana to Morris D. and Mary (Sandoval) Geary. Mark was employed by Accucast Products LLC in Chesterton. He is a US Army Veteran with over 19 years of service with deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Mark was an active member of American legion post #260 in Portage.

Mark is survived by his mother "Sister Mary Sebastian" of Virginia Dale, CO; five sisters and brothers, Susan Vandersteen of Portage, Michael (Allyson) Geary of McMinnville, OR, Laura Geary of Chicago Ridge, IL, Steven Geary of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Benjamin Geary of Chicago Ridge, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Morris Geary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Thursday January 21, 2016 at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana. Burial will follow in St. John- St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, IN and from 9-10 am Thursday at the church.

Memorial donations may be given to the Disabled American Veterans in lieu of flowers.
