Mark Josiah Rivas

Mark Josiah Rivas, age 20, passed away Thursday January 29, 2026, at his home in Portage. Mark was born February 5, 2005, in Melrose Park, Illinois to Jessica E. Rivas. He was a line technician for Axspoint. Mark loved to create music, playing keyboard, Rapping, and making people laugh. He also enjoyed playing video games.

He is survived by his loving mother Jessica E. Rivas; his brother, Angel Isaiah Rivas; two sisters, Maritza Eileen Rivas and Anaitza Eileen Rivas; his grandmother, Ana Mercedes Rivas; two uncles, Roberto Rivas, Jr. and Ricardo Rivas; and many other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roberto Rivas, Sr..

Mark was cremated. A memorial visitation will be Held Wednesday February 11, 2026, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Thursday February 12, 2026, with 9:30 a.m. prayers at the funeral home and process to Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church 2949 Willowcreek Road Portage, Indiana where Mass will be Celebrated at 10 a.m. by Rev. Kevin McCarthy. Burial of Mark's Ashes will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1400 S. Wolf Road Hillside, IL 60162.
