Marlene J. Uhles

Marlene J. Uhles, age 85 of Hobart passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024. She was born on September 3, 1939, in Evergreen Park, Illinois to the late Alfred and Gladys F.  (nee Gorley) Graham. Marlene, a dedicated postal career retiree from the U.S. Postal Service, inspires with her legacy of love warmth and kindness, a cherished member of Hobart United Methodist Church, her heart filled with joy as she delighted in shopping and dining adventures with Caroline, her partner in crime.

She is survived by her; two sons, Garry (Viota) Uhles of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Mike "Gerald" (Dee) Uhles of Hobart; three daughters, Cathy (John) Thorne of Chicago, Illinois, Christine (Ed) Saffrahn of Lake Station, Indiana and Carol Uhles of Hobart; 13 grandchildren, Amanda, Tim, Justin (Erica), Zachary (Anna), Brandon, Jacqueline (Ben),  Elizabeth, Josh, Jenna, John, Bridget (Scott), Dawn (Chris) , and Jeanne (Jermey) ; 11 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Declan, Noah, Emma, Chloe, Wyatt,  Alaina, Charlie, Henry, Teddy and Lillian ; sister-in-law, Ruth Graham, cousin, Lupe and other loving family members and friends . She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald "Jerry" W. Uhles and her parents and brother, Robert Graham.

A funeral service for Marlene will be Friday, November 1, 2024, at 10 am with Rev. Dale Combs officiating at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Schererville, Indiana 46375. Please note there is a day between the visitation and funeral service. Visitation will be held October 30, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 pm also at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
