Martha L. Bates "Granny", age 96, of Hobart, Indiana passed away Thursday March 23, 2017 at her home. Martha was born December 23, 1920 in Loudon County, Tennessee to the late Rand Garfield and Inez (Webb) Williams. She was a mother and grandmother that loved her family and many friends dearly. She was a member of Valparaiso Baptist Church.

Martha is survived by her loving daughters, Rita McClaskey and Jackie Darlene(William) Hartt both of Hobart; three grandchildren, Jackie LeeAnna (Tim) Galambos, William Luke Hartt and Travis Cameron McClaskey; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Luke Bates; her parents Rand and Inez Williams; seven brothers, Ben, Frank, Arthur, Curtis, Clifton, Carl and Floyd Williams; five sisters, Myrtle Gable, Hazel Griffin, Alma Seals, Ruth Tyler and Merrill Ward.

Funeral services for Martha will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday March 27, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Sunday at the Funeral Home. Burial for Martha will be in Civitan Cemetery in Rogersville, Alabama.
