Martha Jane Best

Martha J. Best, age 76, of Lake Station passed away January 13, 2024 at her home with her family in attendance. Martha was born April 5, 1947 in Humboldt, Tennessee, to the late Orville and Jonell (Manely) Miller. She retired from Miller's Merry Manor in Hobart after 35 years as a CNA.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Roger Best; her children, Rosie (JR) Guel, Theresa Sailors, Michelle (Jeff) Flory, Tanya (Melvin) Hammons, Roger (Linda) Best, Billy (Amanda) Best; her stepfather, Manuel Soria; her sister, Barb (Dan) Muir; her brothers, Jimmy Miller, Danny (Ellen) Devine, and Roger (Pam) Miller; 24 grandchildren, including a very special grandson Kody Neal who cared for her the past 3 years; 38 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Maryann Soria; her mother, Jonell Soria; her father, Arvel Lee Miller; sisters, Debbie Gaskill and Trudy Keller; and her son-in-law, Anthony Sailors.

Visitation for Martha will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday January 20, 2024 at Rees Funeral Home 600 Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 4:00 pm with Pastor J.J. Hairston officiating.
