Martha Hess, age 94, of Portage passed away Monday August 10, 2015 at the Rittenhouse Assisted Living Center in Portage. Martha was born July 8, 1921 in Equality, Kentucky to the late Jacob and Martha (Hunter) Barnard. Martha was a homemaker mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portage. Martha was also a member of the Portage Garden Club and was a Master Gardener.

Martha is survived by her two daughters Judy (Ken) Dailey of Valparaiso and Robyn (Terry) Sarkkinen of Valparaiso, IN; six grandchildren Shannon McBride, Seann (Scott) Richardson, Kerry (Ryan) Fenters, Ken Dailey III, David Sarkkinen, Wendy Sarkkinen and four great grandchildren Haley McBride, Brycen Fenters, Bradley Fenters and Gabriella Richardson.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Everett Hess and her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday August 17, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Pastor Terry Gibson officiating. Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday August 16th at the funeral home. Additional services and burial will be handled by William L. Danks, Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
