Marvin L. Ansbro, age 77, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 23, 1936 in Dyer, Indiana to the late James and Irene Ansbro. A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, Marv retired from US Steel Sheet and Tin after 42 years of service as a line operator. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, shopping and above all spending time with his grandchildren. He was proud to be a pitcher for the Katz Kitten Mushball Team of Gary.
Marvin is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Elaine (Etchison) Ansbro of Hobart, children; Leora (Bill) Maynard of Gainesville, GA, Brenda (Mike) Gething of Connor, AR, Becky (Ron) Brehmer of Crown Point, IN, Doug (Pam) Schuler of North Webster, IN and Naomi (Mike) Irving of Whiting, IN, 24 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; James Ansbro Sr. and Irene Ansbro, son; Craig Ansbro, brothers; Kenny Ansbro, Jimmy Ansbro Jr., and Roland Ansbro, one sister, Irene 'Sissy' Hayes, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Marv will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN with Pastor Bob Szoke officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
