Obituary

MARVIN EARL JACKSON, age 74, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Life Care Center of Valparaiso.  He was born on September 20, 1944 in Anderson.  Marvin was a graduate of Calumet High School and worked for 20 years in sales at Sears between the River Oaks Mall and Southlake Mall.  He retired after many years of service as an employee for the Lake County Clerk's tax correction division.   Marvin was a faithful member of Living Hope Community Nazarene Church in Valparaiso.  He  had been involved in the Boy Scouts and especially enjoyed playing board games and building legos with his grandchildren.  Marvin had an extensive train layout and enjoyed collecting stamps and sci-fi movies.  He will be remembered as a loving son, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Walter) Bennett and Sherry (Scott) Martin; mother, Delores Spencer; 2 grandchildren, Renee and Ryan Martin; and sister, Marilyn (Walter) Rubacha.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Crystal Lynn (nee MacNeil); and father, Carter Jackson.

Visitation for Marvin will be Friday, October 19, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, from 2:00-8:00 with a 7:00 p.m. service with Pastor Rich Schmidt officiating.  Services will conclude at the funeral home with cremation at a later time.  Please call (219) 942-2109 or go online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com .
