Marvin E. Murdock, age 83, of Hobart passed away Friday, January 9, 2015. He was born on November 26, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Wilber and Effie Murdock. Marvin was a very dedicated member of his church and often sang for funeral services. He was a talented artist and enjoyed woodworking.

Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Vietta "Chris" Murdock; daughter, Kim (Steven) Eldridge; son, Grayling Murdock; step daughters, Jennifer (Dennis) Gould, Kathryn (Larry) Taylor; grandchildren, Mandy Lackland-Eldridge, Stephanie (James) Essex, Casey Gould, Cody Gould, Kerry (Michael) Hyde, Joshua (Crystal) Taylor and Eugene Hill; great grandchildren, Noah, Katie and Jack; extended family members, Mrs. Gudrun Ulbrich and family.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber and Effie Murdock; brother, Edwin Wilkins; sister, Effie Asbury. Memorial contributions in Marvin's name may be made to VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383 or Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly Street Hobart, IN 46342.

A funeral service for Marvin will take place Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Charles Strietelmeier officiating.
