Mary Louise Buckel(Nee Tonne)Portage, Indiana
Mary L. Buckel passed away, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born January 6, 1912 in Medford, Wisconsin to the late Wilhelm H. and Louise P. (nee Fredricks) Tonne. Mary Louise was a Chicago Providence High School graduate, and a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Lake Station. Mary married the love of her life Gale J. Buckel on October 11, 1941 at Sacred Heart in Lombard, Illinois. She was very proud of her family and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by four sons; Paul J. (Darlene) Buckel of Mishawaka, Indiana Gregory W. (Betty) Buckel of Fort Wayne, Indiana, John T. (Sandra) Buckel of Conneaut, Ohio and Raymond F. (Gina) Buckel of Milwaukie, Oregon , daughter Mary M. (Dennis) Richel of Portage, 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gale J. Buckel, sister; Catherine Kohlin and seven brothers; Christopher, William, Theodore, August, Alexander, Jerome and Robert Tonne.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pro-life charity of donor's choice.
A funeral service for Mary will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 beginning with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, and processing to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447 Putnam for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. David W. Kime officiating. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 3-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, with a 7 p.m. Rosary.
