Mary J. Burge

Mary Jane Burge (nee Shadley), age 89 of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022. She was born on December 24, 1932 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Ora and Violet Shadley. She liked to play BINGO and go to the Casinos in her spare time. Above all, she loved her family and dedicated her life to taking care of her children and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, Tina (Alan) Strimbu, Donna (Stanley) Warren, Jimmie (Pat) Burge, Violet (Larry) Dziubla, Cindy (Ricky) Glotzbach, Donald (Mary) Burge, Jr., and Rose Lucas; 25 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Violet Shadley; husband, Donald Burge; son, Dennis Joe Burge; daughter, Karen Alfaro; 6 brothers and sisters.  Memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to the VNA Hospice Foundation, 501 Marquette Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.

A memorial service for Mary will take place Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 5:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
