MARY M. CHINERY, age 88, a longtime resident of Hobart, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. Mary was born on February 15, 1927 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. She was an artist and a member of the Hobart and Chesterton Art Leagues. Mary loved flowers and gardening and retired from Gerties Florist in 1995. She was a very active member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, St. Anne's Confraternity, and an Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. Mary always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Deborah Coble of Winamac, IN; brother-in-law, David (Flo) Chinery; 5 grandchildren, Kellie (Brian) Ritchie, Michael Coble, Richard (Stephanie) Coble, Robert Coble and Elaine (Derrick) Bacewic; 7 great grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Ritchie, Zoey, Zane and Zelda Coble, Dalton and Wyatt Bacewic; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chinery; daughter, Anne Marie Chinery; and parents, Harold and Harriet O'Rourke; brothers, Ted and Gordon O'Rourke; stepmother, Nell O'Rourke.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the donor's choice are preferred.
Visitation for Mary will be Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 12 Noon until services begin at 4:00 p.m. with prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. then going in procession for a Mass of Christian Burial at 4:30 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 568 E. Second St., Hobart, with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating.
