Mary Jane Denny, age 87, of Lake Station, IN, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013. She was born on September 10, 1925 in Plum City, Wisconsin the daughter of Frank and Rosanna (nee Taylor) Krings. When Mary Jane was a young lady she moved from the farm in Arkansaw, Wisconsin to work for the government at Merchandise Mart. She then met Jerdon Denny a sailor in the United States Navy, who won her heart and they married on September 9, 1947. They then built a home in Lake Station where they started their life together. She was an original parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church in East Gary. She was a proud member of the Ladies Sodality and was in the St. Francis Xavier Choir. She was an avid bowler and was a former girl scout and group leader, she also worked part time for H & R Block. She loved vacationing with Jerdon in Tucson, Arizona and spending summers in the cabin in Stockholm, WI. Mary Jane will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Susan ( William) Fisher of Hobart, two grandchildren; Kristine Tipold and Michael Dolan; three great grandchildren; Andrew Dolan, Stephanie and Jacob Tipold; one brother, Patrick (Ann) Krings of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, two sisters; Karleen Johnson of Hoffman Est., Illinois and Carmen Seipel of Redwing, Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jerdon Denny, two brothers; Norbert and Nolton Krings, and two infant sisters; Jean and Janet Krings
A funeral service for Mary Jane will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 beginning with prayers at 10:30 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart Chapel , 46342 and processing to St. Francis Xavier Church, 2447 Putnam Street, Lake Station for a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. David Kime officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 12, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, (219) 942-2109 or online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
