Mary Gomez, age 66, of Portage, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 8, 1951 to Jesse Gomez and Gloria (nee Benavente) Ramirez. Mary worked in maintenance for Lake Station School system. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary is survived by her mother, Gloria Ramirez of Portage; two brothers, Frank Gomez of Munster and Robert Gomez of Highland; sister, Gloria (Jose) Gonzalez of Portage; four nephews, Frankie (Claudia), Robert (Shelley), Anthony and Eric; five nieces, Tracy (Edward), Timie (Frank), Miriam, Elisea (John) and Francesca (Jordan), numerous great-nephews and nieces and one great-great niece, many other loving family members and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Gomez.

A funeral service for Mary will take place Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368. Cremation will follow.
