Mary-Jo Andersen

Mary-Jo Andersen (nee Heer), age 65, of Portage, IN and formerly of South Holland and Blue Island, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Mary-Jo was born on February 17, 1957 to the late William and Roseann (nee Spinazola) Heer.  She married Darryl Andersen, Sr. on November 17, 1989 and spent 33 wonderful years together.  For many years, Mary-Jo was a devoted homemaker before becoming a Teacher's Aide for Central Elementary School in their 1 ^st and 2 ^nd grade classrooms.

Mary-Jo was very dedicated to her family and loved them deeply.  She was an excellent cook and made special recipes that would remind family and friends of memories together.  She was full of life, happy, and was always singing and dancing.  Mary-Jo was a beloved wife, adoring mother, dear sister, aunt, and friend.  Her vibrant personality and love will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know her.

Mary-Jo is survived by her dear husband: Darryl; loving children: Darryl, Jr., her "DJ" (Savannah) and Jennifer, her "Jenny Rose"; brothers: Danny and Joey Heer; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary-Jo is preceded in death by her parents: William and Roseann; and brother: Billy Heer.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Homes, Olson Chapel (5341Central Ave, Portage) on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M.  A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation at 7:00 P.M.
