MARY JO HOPKINS, age 88, a lifelong Hobart resident, passed away, Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was born on May 14, 1938, to the late Carl and Helen (nee Holzmer) Hopkins. Mary Jo was a lifelong member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, where she had belonged to St. Vincent DePaul and served as treasurer. She retired from Bethlehem Steel in 2000 after 37 years of services as an administrative assistant. Mary Jo was an active volunteer with the Hobart Food Pantry until more recent years.
Mary Jo is survived by brother, Richard (Sandra) Hopkins; sister, Sally Perry; sisters-in-law, Anabel Hopkins and Marilyn Mietzner; numerous nieces and nephews, and loving friends and family
Mary Jo was also preceded in death by twin brother, Thomas J. (Tesla) Hopkins and brothers, James Hopkins, Harry Hopkins; sister-in-law, Diana Hopkins;
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to breast cancer research.
Visitation for Mary Jo will be Monday, August 31, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Prayers will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home and then proceed to St. Bridget Catholic Church for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery West in Winamac, Indiana.
