IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Mitol
April 19, 1926 – December 29, 2020
Mary Ann Mitol (Koslowski) left us on Tuesday morning, 12/30/20, the day of our Lord. She will be missed terribly. Mary Ann aka Mom, Grandma, Busia, Mar, was Mom and Grandma to many. Mom was the Giving Tree. In all of the many roles she participated in the brunt of the tasks were embraced by Mary Ann. She made everyone's life a little better. From her seven children and husband, to her colleagues at the River Forest cafeteria and especially the hundreds of children she served every day often supplementing or totally covering their costs because they were unable to. In her own kitchen there were often extra chairs occupied by the neighborhood kids and adults who coveted her extraordinary Polish cooking. Even then she was last in line, not eating until everyone was satisfied.
She will be remembered for her unconstrained heart filled laughter, her often morbid yet calming resolutions in a crisis, her unwavering love and devotion for her children and friends, but especially for her selfless giving. She would slip her last five dollars into a miscreant grandchild's pocket or daughters friend's hand even if her own cupboards were bare. Her whole life was dedicated to others. Perhaps Mary Ann can now move to the front of the line.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; daughters, Honora Lucas and Sandra Bull; brothers, William, Chester, Gene; and sister, Adel.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Bryant (Mikey), Carter, Teresa, Michael and Joe (Kathi); 11 Grandchildren, Jen Mitol , Jamie Mitol, Jessica Kadar , Missy Raffaelli , Carter L Mitol , Andrew Mitol, Heather Renae Mitol , Kelli Goodman , Andrea Mitol , Anne Nichole , Richie Bull; and
8.5 soon to be 9 great grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. 219-942-2109.
