MARY "LOUISE" NELSON, age 84, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was born on October 12, 1928 in Bloomington, Illinois. She was a longtime Portage resident. Louise cherished her family and the time she spent with them. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Louise is survived by her son, Todd (Cindy Lou) Nelson of San Jose, CA; 2 daughters, Karen (Hal) Proctor of Johns Creek, GA and Wendy (Robert) Nelson-Gerhardt of Lake Station; 11 grandchildren, Heather (JJ) McKay, Gary Nelson, Jennifer Nelson, Madisyn Nelson, Brittany (Brandon) Farmer, Hannah Hunt, Mary Hunt, Tera (Josh) Nelson, Vincent Nelson-VanVleet, Breann Gerhardt, and David (Tessa) Brooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; son, Marvin "Marty" Nelson; mother, Ida Drane.

A funeral service for Louise will be Monday, April 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Fred Hoover officiating.
