MARY M. RICHEL, age 63, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at home, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chicago on September 12, 1952 to the late Gale and Mary Louise Buckel. Mary was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church, and a wonderful mother who homeschooled all of her children over the course of 30 years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dennis; 5 sons, Brian (Crystal) Richel, Jim, Tom, Greg, and Michael Richel; 3 daughters, Sharon (Max) Malloy, Christine (Mike) Grutsch, Mary Catherine Richel-Reed; 20 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Paul (Darlene) Buckel, Greg (Betty) Buckel, John (Sandy) Buckel.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Buckel.

Funeral services for Mary will be Monday, December 14, 2015 beginning with prayers at 10:15 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, and going in procession to St. Francis Xavier, 2447 Putnam St., Lake Station, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David W. Kime officiating. Burial will follow at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
