Mary A. Spiegla, age 91, formerly of Lake Station passed away Thursday November 20, 2014 at the Rensselaer Care Center in Rensselaer, Indiana. Mary was born January 1, 1923 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late John and Anna (Ermia) Micu. Mary retired from St. Mary Medical Center in 1988. She was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in New Chicago, Indiana.

Mary is survived by her daughter Evelyn Angelov of Hebron; her son Mike (Lynn) Spiegla of Winamac; sister-in-law Helen Gazda of Portage; daughter-in-law Nancy Spiegla of Burns Harbor; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Micu, her beloved husband Joseph Spiegla, two sons Joseph Spiegla II and John Spiegla, and her brother John Micu.

Funeral Services will begin Monday November 24, 2014 with 9:30 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana and proceed to Assumption BVM Catholic Church for a 10:00 am celebration of the Rite of Christian Burial with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Rees Funeral Home with a 3:30 pm prayer service.
