Mary Kathryn Steerman, age 80, of Lake Station, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 19, 2019 with her daughter by her side. She was born on February 7, 1939 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Mary worked as a forklift driver and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent taking care of her grandkids. Mary cooked amazing food from scratch, enjoyed gardening and canned her own tomato juice. She will always be remembered for helping other people and her dedication to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eugene Steerman; daughter and best friend, Cindy (Ron) Dudzinski; son, Michael Steerman; grandchildren, Candy (Sebastian) Collazo, Jennifer (George) Mendez, Bethia (Jay) Van Ausdal, John Steerman, Mary (Darryl Mosley) Powers; great grandchildren, Dominique, Jasmine, Destiny, Desiree, Jacob, Zachary, Brianna, Aiden, Darryl, Iszabella, Mackenzie, Adrianna, Sebastian and Alyssa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rosemary Webb; and one sister, Louise McClaskey; long-time best friend, Joanne Robertson.

Memorial visitation for Mary will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Lake Station City Hall, 1969 Central Ave., Lake Station, IN 46405.
