Matthew Eric Noel, age 58, of Hobart, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on November 26, 1963.  Matthew was a member of Eastlake Baptist Church in Crown Point.  He enjoyed learning and was working on his PhD in History at Liberty University.  He enjoyed history, golf, and was an avid fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks, and Alabama football.  Matthew loved Batman.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Noel; son, Joshua Marroquin; mother, Jean Noel; brother, Mark (Dianna) Noel; mother and father-in-law, Wesley and Sally Stansbury; sister-in-law, Nichole (Phil) Victor; nephews, Tyler and Taylor Noel, Andrew and Bishop Polizzotto, David, Jacob, Kai, Blake, and Quintin Victor; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Cecil E. Noel; and his grandparents.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ben Hammond officiating at Eastlake Baptist Church, 7121 E. Lincoln Hwy, Crown Point, IN, 46307.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12-2 pm at the church.  Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel, 219-942-2109.
