MATTHEW D. NORDYKE, age 25, of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He was a lifelong area resident and a 2011 graduate of Portage High School. Matthew was employed with NLMK, Indiana as a steelworker and was a member of the Longshoreman's Union and Local ILA 2038. He was a very personable guy who had lots of friends. Matthew enjoyed riding his motorcycle and fishing and cherished the time he spent with his family. He will be remembered as a loving son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Marie (William Breunig) Torres; father, David (Susan Dyer) Nordyke; brother, Michael Nordyke; step sisters, Marissa Breunig and Corinne (Sam) Sowles; grandmothers, Jennie Torres and Geraldine Nordyke; beloved dog, Connor; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Vern Torres and David Nordyke.
