Mattie F. Rogers, age 80 of Hobart, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012. She was born on February 3, 1932 in Tigrett, TN to the late J.D. and Illa Cogburn. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxilary, Post 54, Northwest Indiana Womens Professional Club, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mattie was also very active in PTA for her children.
She is survived by 2 sons, Michael Holt of Gary, IN; Mark Erler of Wabash, IN; 1 daughter, Angela Maples of Medford, NY; 1 sister, Juanita (James) Crouch of Marion, KY; 1 grandson, Larry C. Maples of Long Island, NY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Illa Cogburn and her husband, Joseph Rogers.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services are Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Entombment will follow at Calumet Park Mausoleum.
