Maudie Lee Garner (nee Hood), age 93, of Lake Station, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024

Maudie was born on August 2, 1930 in Ashby, AL to the late Robert and Dillie (nee Vurnett) Hood.  She married Millard "Jack" Garner, Jr. on June 10, 1947 and spent 54 years together until his passing in 2001.  Maudie was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church.  She loved playing BINGO at the Lake Station Senior Center.

She enjoyed cooking southern food and loved to host dinner for her family.  Maudie liked to be with her posse of friends and loved cats.  St. Patrick's Day was always a special day spent each year at Cracker Barrell to celebrate her daughter Willie's birthday.  She was also an incredible dance partner and loved to jitterbug with her daughter-in-law, Debra.  Maudie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great- and even great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maudie is survived by her children: Aaron (Debra) Garner, Willie (Jack) Czilli, and Mava (Dallas) Bryan; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters: Earlean Poe, Barbara (late Kenny) Gibson, and Dorothy (Earl) Williams; sister-in-law: Linda Hood; a host of nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Maudie is preceded in death by her husband Jack; daughter: Mary Lenyo; parents: Robert and Dillie; siblings: Ruby, Jessie, Linda, Claudia, Sarah, Jewell, and Frank "Buck"; and brother-in-law: Kenny Gibson.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd., Hobart) on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from Rees Hobart Chapel at 10:00 A.M with Pastor John Stalions officiating.  At Rest, Evergreen Cemetery.
