Maureen M. Rio, age 84 of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. She was born on January 29, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Frank and Helen (nee Coakley) Hillenbrand. Maureen was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Maureen is survived by her 4 sons, James (Georgane) Rio of New Lenox, IL, Vincent Rio of Chicago, IL, Robert (Mary) Rio, of Palm Coast, FL and Thomas Rio of Westminster, MD; 2 daughters, Barbara (Bruce) Hartlerode and Patricia (Marvin) Jones both of Portage, IN; 14 grandchildren, Maureen P. Jordan, Michael (Morgan) Jordan, James Rio, Jr., Andrew Rio, Sean Rio, Vincent Rio, Jr., Michael (Nicole) Rio, Matthew (Dana) Rio, Paul Rio, Kristine (Jason) Maldonado, Jacob (Jessica) Rio, Sarah Rio, Rebecca (Tim) Goonan, and Joshua Rio; 5 great grandchildren, Mackenzie Brooke Jordan, Maddox Landon Michael Jordan, Mabree Harper Jordan, Cameron Punsky, Addison Rio and others. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vincent J. Rio, brother, Eugene Coakley, sister, June (Robert) Owen, aunt and uncle, Thomas (Mildred) King. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 beginning with 9:30am prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. 5341 Central Avenue, Portage proceeding to Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek, Portage for a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Andrew J. Corona officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.
