Mauro J. Colunga- Gonzalez

Age 67 passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Northwest Health Porter Hospital. He was born on August 24, 1956, in Charcas San-Luis-Potosi, Mexico to Amelia Gonzalez and the late, Isidro Colunga. On November 25, 1989, Mauro married the love of his life, Sue Krumrie in Portage, Indiana.  He was self-employed and lived to work, he enjoyed singing and dancing, bird watching, gardening, writing and reading poetry. Mauro loved spending time in Las Vegas with his wife and friends, most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Mauro is survived by his wife of 34 yrs., Sue Colunga of Portage; children, Dominique Colunga, Mauriza (Matthew) Colunga, Erick (Bry) Colunga, Stephany Colunga, and step daughter, Jami Maisonneuve; Mother, Amelia Gonzalez; six grandchildren, Amelia, Rosalía, Dakota, Ricky, Jonnie and Kierra; numerous beloved brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews all of Mexico; special friends, Juan, Ralphie, Kelly, Joe, Julio, Ana and all of their families.

He is preceded in death by his father, Isidro Colunga

A visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. Cremation will follow.
