Max Anthony Smith III

Age 45, passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at his home. He was born on September 3, 1978, in Hobart Indiana to Judy (nee Ward) Smith and the late Max Smith II. Max will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Max is survived by his mom, Judy Smith; son, Landon Etchison; daughter, Hailey Ferrel; sister, Heather Ann Smith; uncle, Richard Nicks; two nieces, Cecilia Ribera and Shelby Smith and great nephews, Antonio Smith and Kingston Smith and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Max Smith II.

A funeral service for Max will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. The burial will be at McCool Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will also be on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
