Maxine Barnett

Bonnie "Maxine" Barnett, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018.  She was born in, Cooter, Missouri on April 12, 1926 to the late Marion F. and Mary A. (nee Frankum) Dooley. On May 17, 1942 Maxine married the love of her life the late William L. Barnett in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was a retired Clerk for various Pharmacies and a longtime member of First United Pentecostal Church in Merrillville. Maxine was very devoted to her family, friends and her church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Maxine is survived by her loving daughters, Kay (Donald) Dornburg and Kelly Matlock; four grandchildren, Jeff (Julie) Dornburg, Joni (Kevin) Mulroe, Trent (Samantha) and Tanner Matlock; seven great-grandchildren, Emma and Kenny, Dornburg ,Katie Mulroe, Mason and Ella Dornburg and Presli and Marli Matlock and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; grandson, Eric Dornburg; two brothers, Hershel and Harry Dolley and four sisters, Pauline Martin, Frances Teeter, Geraldine Bailey and Mildred Cobb.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert Stroup officiating at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342.  Maxine will be laid to rest on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 am at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, if attending please meet at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel at 9:15 am.  Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 12:00 pm until time of service.  For more information, please call 219-942-2109.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
