Melisa A. Janis (nee Hafner), age 53, of Hobart, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
Melisa was born on November 20, 1969 in Indiana to the late Robert Hafner and Melanie (nee Stevens) Mulledy. She worked as a medical assistant and in hotel management over the years. Melisa married Albert "Lee" Janis on August 19, 2002 and spent many wonderful years together until his passing in 2016.
Melisa loved to travel. She enjoyed the scenery and liked to "get away", some of her favorite places being Las Vegas, NV and Nashville, TN. Melisa was a concert goer and liked to watch anything from old school rock to modern country. She was ordained as a minister and performed two weddings, one for her daughter Leann. Melisa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Melisa is survived by her children: Jason (Crystal) Bradburn, Grant Molden, Leann Easton, James (Jessica) Janis, and Randi (James) Croy; grandchildren: Payge, Alivia, Madison, James, Dakota, Victoria, Hunter, Kaitlyn, and Mia; great-grandchildren: Elijah and Evangeline; siblings: Michelle Woodard and Robert Hafner; beloved Pomeranian: Carter; and many other extended family members and dear friends.
Melisa is preceded in death by her husband: Lee; parents: Robert and Melanie; and granddaughter: Hailey Bradburn.
Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd., Hobart) on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 11:00-1:00. A Time of Sharing will follow visitation immediately at 1:00. At Rest, Calvary Cemetery.
