Michael S. Austin, age 45, of Valparaiso, IN passed away December 28, 2017.  Michael was born May 5, 1972 in Gary, Indiana to Jim and Cheryl (Fife) Austin.  Michael was a 1990 graduate of Wheeler High School.  Michael loved music. He was the host of Earworm Soup on WVLP 103.1 in Valparaiso on Tuesday mornings. Michael also liked doing karaoke.  Michael loved being a camp counselor for the MDA.  Michael was a very loving and caring person.  Michael met a lot of people who became his friends through working at McDonalds and Walmart in Valparaiso He will be missed by many who loved and cared for him.

Michael is survived by his mother, Cheryl L. Austin (Jim Candler) of Hobart;  brothers Keith Austin (Cheryl) of Valparaiso, Kevin Austin (Kelli) of Westville; grandfather Russell Fife, Sr. Portage and formerly of Florida; aunts, Lynn Smith of Valparaiso, Marie Pyle, Belleville, IL and Karen Fife of Hobart; uncles, Ralph, Pyle of Belleville, IL and Russell Fife, Jr. of Hobart;  nieces, Gianna Pocius, Cassidy Boo and Stephanie Boo Nephew Brian Boo. Cousins Julie (Al) Gobin of Crawfordsville and Natalie (Jim) Smith of Valparaiso.

Michael was preceded in death by his Father, Jim Austin; his Sister Susan; his maternal grandmother, Rose Fife; paternal grandmother, Bernice Marcom; and his cousin Robert Smith, Jr.

Visitation will be from 2-7 pm Wednesday January 3, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342.  A Time of Sharing for friends and family will follow at 7 pm.
