Michael Bain

Michael Bain, age 85, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2026. He was born on February 24, 1941, in Gary, Indiana to the late Paul and Mary Bain. Michael retired from U.S. Steel. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 260, Portage where he also served on the Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret “Peggy” Bain (nee Rentz) of Portage, IN: one son, Jerry (Dianna) Bain of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Wendy (Robert) Van Houten of Chambersburg, PA; Terry (Glen) Ragon of Portage, IN; two sisters, Dorothy Kaletta of Ocala, FL; Marilyn (Raymond) Bagley of Rochester, IN; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services are Monday, November 9, 2026 at 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Austin Blaszczynski. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Visitation is Monday just prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage. (219) 762-3013.
