Michael Alan Berrier, age 47 a longtime Portage/Chesterton resident passed away Monday, January 29, 2018. He was born on May 1, 1970 in Valparaiso, Indiana. Michael graduated from Chesterton High School in 1988. He went on to Purdue University graduating in 1993 with his Bachelor's degree and in 2010 earning his Masters of Business Administration. Michael served as Vice President on the Portage Junior Miss Softball Board. He loved many sports including baseball, football, and golf. He was a die hard Cubs fan and huge Bears fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lee Berrier (nee Slane); one son, Kyler David Berrier, one daughter, Marlee Grace Berrier all of Portage, his mother, Marilyn J. Carmona of Palm Coast, FL; father and mother in law, Thomas and Shirley Slane of Valparaiso, IN; two sisters-in-law, Christy Berrier, and Suzanne (James) Eli both of Valparaiso, IN; nephew, Calan Berrier, three nieces, Sophia, Claire, and Stella Eli and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family, including, Dale Alan Berrier .
He was preceded in death by his fathers, David A. Lustgarten, and Frank A. Carmona, and one brother, Christopher A. Berrier.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Michael's honor may be made to Mental Health America of Porter County, 402 E. Indiana Avenue, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
A memorial service will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating. The burial of cremains will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. A traditional visitation with viewing will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
