Michael Jerome "Abby" Donelson, age 65, of Valparaiso passed away Friday November 28, 2014 at the Regency Hospital in Portage. Michael had worked as a mechanic for Inland Steel prior to becoming disabled. Michael was born October 29, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to the late Wendell and Betty (Fasel) Donelson. Michael proudly volunteered to serve his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Michael is survived by his two sons Christopher Donelson and Michael J. Donelson, Jr. both of Portage; brother Mark "Skip" Donelson; sister Sandy (Grant) Fussell; nieces Lori (David) Mullaney and Ashlee Donelson; nephews Mark Donelson, Jr. and Jeff (Cindy) Malmquist; great nephews Brendan and Colin Mullaney and Connor Malmquist.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and son P. J. Donelson.

Michael requested to be cremated. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 6:30 pm from the American Legion Post #502 in South Haven. Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana assisted with arrangements.
