Michael J. Lewandowski, age 61, of Covington, Indiana and formerly of Lake Station, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. He was born on November 24, 1953 in Gary, Indiana to the late Chester and Nettie Lewandowski. He was employed with Silgan Containers/ National Can for 42 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Shelia (nee Cook) Lewandowski; sons, Michael D. (Jessica) Lewandowski, Steven (Jillian) Lewandowski; brothers, Tom (Rose) Lewandowski, Chet (Teresa) Lewandowski; sister, Debbie (Bob) Smith; brother-in-law, Don Cook; sister-in-law, Susie Lewandowski; one grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews; Harry and Alice Owens and his beloved cat, Zowie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Nettie Lewandowski; brother, Jim Lewandowski; father-in-law, Donald Cook; mother-in-law, Gloria Owens.

A funeral service for Mike will take place Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 am (CST) at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with Pastor Joe Humrichous officiating.
