Michael Muir, age 50, of Knox, Indiana, formerly of Portage passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 28, 1974, in Hobart, Indiana to Robert and the late Marilyn (nee Fink) Muir. Michael possessed a strong enthusiasm for cooking and grilling. He was a graduate of Portage High School class of 1992. He maintained a distinctive viewing habit, wherein he never watched a movie more than once. During his youth, he took pleasure in playing hide and go seek with his siblings and engaging in basketball. His late dogs, Spice, Cain, and Rusty were deeply cherished.

He is survived by his father, Robert Muir; three brothers, Robert (Amy) Muir, Charles Muir and Milan Tesanovich-Thomas; four sisters, Kathy (Lester) O'Brien, Keri Braun, Briana (Brent) Benesh and Stetson Hoyo; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Freesia Willow Muir in 2015 and his mother, Marilyn Muir in 2020.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at The Caboose Cafe, 4020 E Old US Highway 30, Hamlet, Indiana 46532 on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Rees Funeral Homes and Cremation services are entrusted with arrangements.
