Michael J. Muldoon

Michael John Muldoon, age 79, of Hobart, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center. He was born on March 31, 1937 in Gary, Indiana to the late John Joseph Muldoon and Margaret Strinchak Walla. Mike was a 1956 graduate of Lew Wallace High School. On St. Patrick's Day, 1976, he married Gloria Shachno. A member of the Sons of Erin, he was very proud of his Irish heritage and often worked two or three jobs at a time. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Mike will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Gloria Muldoon; son, Michael J. (Dawn) Muldoon, Jr.; daughters, Susan Hargis, Deborah (Philip) Doelling, Shannon (Thomas) Saenz; grandchildren, Connor Muldoon, Madeleine Muldoon, Erin Deal, Brittany Hargis, Daniel (Lindsey) Dykstra, Taylor Saenz, Shaun Saenz; great grandchildren, Andrew Dykstra, Ethan Dykstra, Lila Dykstra, and Maximus Shafer; brothers, James P. (Linda) Muldoon, George (Beverly) Walla; sister, Cynthia (Michael) Ligda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Muldoon and Margaret Strinchak Walla. Memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to the Hobart Humane Society, P.O. Box 108, Hobart, Indiana, 46342.

Visitation for Mike will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
