Michael J. O'Connor

Michael J. O'Connor, age 75 of Lake Station/Portage area passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023.  He was born on May 20, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana to the late James O'Connor and Dorothy Hegedus.  Michael retired from the City of Lake Station Street Department after many years of service.  He graduated from Hammond Tech High School.  Michael was considered a "Junk Master".  He served his country in the U.S. Marines.

He is survived by one daughter, Shannon (Jay) Sizemore of Hobart, IN; one son, Eric (Tabatha) O'Connor of Hobart, IN; and four grandchildren, Sara, Samuel, Patrick, and Ryan, and great-granddaughter, Willow.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie O'Connor.

Visitation is Monday, December 4, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road.  (219) 942-2109.  Cremation will follow.  Burial of cremated remains will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.
