Michael James Smith

Michael James Smith, age 53, of Hobart passed away Friday August 12, 2022. He was born November 23, 1968, to the late William and Darlene (Thorsky) Smith. Mike was a Union Carpenter working out of Local Union #272. Michael loved Bass Lake where he enjoyed Barefooting, Wake boarding, grilling, and listening to music (the louder the better). He loved his family, friends, and his dogs Chloe and Bandit; and now he will be reunited with Spencer, and Brandy in heaven.

Michael is survived by his three daughters, Brittany (Michael) O'Connor, Laurel (Eric) Sepanski, and Samantha Smith; three grandchildren Xavier Rincon, Ethan Sepanski, and Michael O'Connor; his girlfriend, Janet Artka; three brothers, Bill Smith, Craig Smith, and Brian Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Michael will be held from 2-8 pm Sunday August 21, 2022, at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46368. Funeral Services will be at 10 am Monday at the Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
