Michael W. Thompson, age 57, of Hobart passed away Tuesday August 27, 2013 in his home. He was born April 7, 1956 in Hammond, IN to the late Harold and Doris (Insco) Thompson. Michael worked for Schneider National, Inc. as a truck driver. He was a member of Griffith Lodge #735, F&AM.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Marie (Soderquist) Thompson of Hobart; two sons Mike (Mandie) Thompson of Gary and Derek (Melissa) Soderquist of Lake Station; one daughter Amber Soderquist of Hammond; four grandchildren Savannah and Taylor Thompson, Darius Robinson and Riley Soderquist; one brother Jeffery Thompson of Texas, one sister Theresa Thompson of Hobart and two nephews Scott and Jason Jelenek.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be at 7 pm Friday August 30, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana with Rev. Jeff Spencer officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 pm and 5-7pm with a 6:30 pm Masonic Memorial Service at the funeral home.
