Through the years Michael had been an active and devoted Purdue fan. Until recently he held season tickets for and attended Purdue football, men's and women's basketball games: often attending away and Purdue football Bowl games. For several years Michael was the Secretary of (NAHO) the National Association of Hearing Officials. Michael enjoyed the holidays!! At home he decorated seven(7) holiday trees and festively decorated each room. At work he maintained seven (7) foot tree in an alcove which he decorated for each holiday and each season of the year.
His annual July 4th parade route gathering in his front yard was festive and the house and yard would be festooned with Red, White, and Blue ribbons, garland, flags, and flowers. Michael was a patron of theater and music arts. For many years he was a season ticket holder for many local venues, including, but not limited to:
Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and Choir,
Memorial Opera House,
Chicago Street Theatre,
TATC-Theatre at the Center
Indiana University - Theatre Northwest and Art. We would not miss an outdoor concert and attended Thursday nights at Festival Park. Hobart faithfully for many years. Michael enjoyed attending the annual Purdue Christmas Show from the '60's until 2015. Musicals by Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Rodgers and Hammerstein he favored. His two most beloved musicals were Showboat and West Side Story. He had seen the two screen versions of both several times. Among his fondest memories was seeing the Chicago Lyric Opera presentations of both. While watching tv Michael was amused by the Golden Girls, pleased and comforted by Hallmark films, and found great comfort and pleasure with the live Disney version of Beauty and the Beast (watching, and singing along at least once a day!). He enjoyed listening to Lake Wobegon with Garrison Keillor, and Agatha Christie tapes. Micheal relished dining out. His favorite meal would be PORK CHOPS!!! If he could order a baked sweet potato he would almost ecstatic
The past few years he was particular about his snacks (SCHNACKS as he called them). He savored sweet and sour cole slaw, white seedless grapes, fresh ( had to be from the deli) dill pickles, celery, creamy peanut butter, Snyder pretzel logs, honey salted peanuts, baby carrots, BeVita cranberry-orange breakfast biscuits, crunchy Cheetos, cranberry juice, ice cream, and cheese bars. Michael Douglas Trammel may be gone from this world physically; but, the memories he made with each of us lives on as long as live.
