Michael L. Wheele, age 66, of Hobart, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017. He was born in Massillon, Ohio on July 11, 1951 to the late Emory and Betty (nee Columbo) Wheele. He was a proud member of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne. He was a member of the VFW, Post 5365 and the American Legion, Post 54, both in Hobart. Michael received a bachelor's degree from Wayne State and a master's degree from Purdue University. He worked as a high school teacher at St. Francis De Sales in Chicago until he retired in 2015. In his free time, Michael enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening.

Michael is survived by special loving companion, Judy Connell and her daughter, Mya; son, Michael (Heather) Wheele; daughter, Lyndsay (Keith) Schamadinger; brothers, Joe (Wilma) Wheele, Tom (Barbara) Wheele, Hank (Lucia) Wheele; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julie McDaniel; and brother, John Wheele.
