Mildred Ann (Price) Brooks, age 93, was taken home by the Lord on August 1, 2017. She was born on March 30, 1924, in Gary, IN. She is survived by two sons; Kenneth (Carol) Brooks of Otterbein, IN, and Dr. Leslie (Jerry) Brooks of Carmel, IN; daughter, Cynthia (Timothy) Beckett of Westville, IN; sister, Doris McShane, of Valparaiso, IN; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Delos Brooks; father, Elza E. Price; mother, Frances Myrtle (Bell )Price; three brothers, Howard, Robert and Charles Price and sister, Martha Wiley.
Although born and raised in Gary, Mildred lived most of her life in Hobart. She played the violin in the orchestra at Tolleston High School, graduating in 1942, and worked as a bookkeeper at U.S. Steel in Gary until 1946 when she became a Mommy and homemaker. Mildred married her G.I. Joe solider on July 23, 1945. She was active in the Hobart Band Mother's Association, including being president. In the past, she enjoyed doing many crafts. More recently, reading her Bible provided much comfort. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was a fun Grandma who will be truly missed.

A memorial service for Mildred will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. A memorial visitation will also be Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 2:00 pm until time of service. Cremation will be completed with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation services.
