Mildred J. Frailey (nee Curtis), age 96, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. She was born on July 10, 1929, in Albion, Indiana, to the late Harley and Pauline Curtis.

On October 9, 1948, Mildred married the love of her life, Lindel Frailey, at Gary City Church. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, creating a home that was always filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.

In her younger years, Mildred was an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles. Her hands were rarely still, as she found great joy in quilting, sewing, and working with ceramics. She especially loved participating in craft shows, where she proudly sold her handmade placemats and tree skirts. Mildred will be remembered as the sweetest soul—kind, gentle, and possessing a true heart of gold.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Laura Larson and Gail (David) Barnett; grandchildren, Adam (Tricia) Horn, Tiffany (Al) Rudd, Brooke (Amanda) Barnett, Suzzette (Tony) Faltin, and Christopher Barnett; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Phillip Curtis; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lindel Frailey; her parents, Harley and Pauline Curtis; brother, John Curtis; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Curtis.

Visitation for Mildred will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Mildred will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
