Modest J. Warren, age 83 a longtime Hobart resident passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012. She was born on August 2, 1928 in Kuttawa, KY to the late George and Annie Cannon Sr.. In 1948 Modest married her other half, Harold "Humpty" Warren. Their love story continued for the last 64 years. Prior to getting married she worked in the general store and delivered telephone books. After marriage she focused her time on being a domestic engineer and raising her children. Modest and Harold worked together to build all four houses that they lived in. Modest loved to can vegetables, cooking, shopping, and going to garage sales. She was into extreme couponing before that was even cool. Modest was an active member of the Town and Country Christian Church. For exercise Modest loved walking with her fellow residents at Brentwood.
She is survived by her husband, Harold E. "Humpty" Warren of Hobart, IN; 3 sons, Larry (Tara) Warren of Monee, IL; Rod (Carolie) Warren of Hobart, IN; Jeff (Debbie) Warren of Fredricksburg, VA; 1 brother, George (Dottie) Cannon Jr. of Valparaiso, IN; 1 sister, Joyce Dewberry of Hobart, IN; 9 greatly loved grandchildren, Matt, Ryan, Lisa, Mike, Shannon, Curtis, Brooke, Jessica, Justi.

Funeral services are Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 6 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Bill Gibbs officiating. Cremation will follow with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation is Thursday, just prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
