Mona Gifford, age 88, of Lake Station passed away Sunday January 30, 2022, in her home with her family at her side. Mona was born January 27, 1934, in Harco, Illinois to the late Cleatis and Geneva (Wiley) Hedger. Mona retired from UG Mag; she then worked as a bartender at the Hobart Fraternal Oder of Eagles for many years. She was a longtime member of the Hobart Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2498 and past Madam President.  Mona was the Matriarch of her family. She loved them all dearly.  She also surrounded herself with many close friends. Through her association with the FOE she volunteered with many worthy causes in Hobart and Lake Station, including collecting Christmas presents for needy children, distributing warm clothing to the Elderly, and helping local food pantries.  Mona was an avid dart player.

She is survived by her three children, Joyce (Robert) Pabian of Williamston, MI, Bobby (Vicky) Gifford of Portage, and Karole Gifford of Lake Station; nine grandchildren, Matthew Pabian, Michelle (Mike) Bernardin, Joshua (Tiffany) P'Pool, James P'Pool, Justin (Vanessa) Fiscus, Tylar (Cory) Mayberry, Krystal, Bobby Gifford, Jr., and Amy; eleven great grandchildren, TJ, Matthew, Jr., Vincent, Ashley, Addison, Christopher, Valerie, James, Jaxon, Alaya, and Malia; a brother, David (Karole) Hedger of Marion Kentucky; and a sister Delphine Ross of Ponca City, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Norman Gifford; her parents; and two brothers, Jack Hedger and Billy George Hedger.

Funeral Services for Mona will be 10:00 am Monday February 7, 2022, at the Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Sunday February 6, 2022 with a  5 p.m. Fraternal Order of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Service at the funeral home.
