Mona L. Tyre (nee Kerns), age 80 of Hobart passed away Monday July 30, 2012. She was born on November 28, 1931 in Wheatfield, Indiana to the late Clifford and Ruth Kerns Sr.. She was a longtime Hobart resident. Mona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart, where she was a longtime member of the Altar Guild and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and she was an active member of the Sunday morning bible class. She loved sewing.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Yvonne Parduhn of Pahrump, NV; Annette (Ron) Allen of Hobart, IN; Stephanie (Dave) Mergl of Hobart, IN; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and close friend of the family, George (Michiko) Brazell of Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford D. and Marietta "Ruth" Kerns Sr. her husband, Theodore "Ted" Tyre, 1 brother, Clifford D. Kerns Jr., 2 half brothers, Clem East Jr., and John "Jack" East, 1 grandson, Craig Michael Allen.

Funeral services are Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Visitation is Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
